Our students participated in the Japan Study Tour during 13 – 20 May. The Study Tour was organised in collaboration with Waseda University with themes related to Elderly Services and Gerontechnology. Professors and lecturers of Waseda University shared topics about social service for older adults in Japan, social security for elderly people, and long-term care insurance. Students understood more about the aging situation and social welfare policies for senior citizens in Japan. They also had opportunities to visit the National Rehabilitation Centre and Royal WAM Town Hospital. The Centre utilises advanced technology products to help the disabled and elderly with cognitive disorders in their daily lives. The WAM Town works closely with the government of Japan, medical service providers, and social service organisations in providing day care, long term care, and inpatient services.
Our students have benefited greatly from this study tour!
