The seminar titled "Connecting to Home in Transitional Accommodation: A Qualitative Study on the Homemaking Practices of People with Mental Health Issues in Hong Kong – A Session for Service Users" was successfully held on October 11, 2025.
The event attracted 50 participants from various transitional hostels, fostering a warm and engaging atmosphere throughout.
During the session, the research team shared key findings, highlighting participants’ interpretations of “home” and examining homemaking practices within transitional hostel settings. Through group discussions and interactive activities, attendees actively contributed personal experiences and insights, further enriching the practical relevance of the study.
Looking ahead, the research team will continue its advocacy efforts based on these findings, aiming to promote a paradigm shift in local mental health residential services—from basic “accommodation” toward a deeper sense of genuine “at-homeness.”
