“The Big Fish Award (2024-25) Presentation Ceremony” was successfully held on 25 October 2025 at Yasumoto International Academic Park, CUHK. In addition to “The Big Fish Award”, “The Big Fish Award for Non-local Placement” was established to recognize students who demonstrated outstanding performance during their non-local placements. We would like to congratulate Mr. Fong Ho, Norris and Ms. Yau Hei Yee, Michelle from the Bachelor of Social Science Programme in Social Work and Mr. Tang Tsz Ho, Brian and Ms. Yiu Tsz Tung, Angel from the Master of Social Science Programme in Social Work for receiving “The Big Fish Award 2024-25”. Furthermore, we extend our congratulations to Ms. Kan Wai Ki, Kiki, Mr. Kwan Sin Hang, Sam and Ms. Leung Ka Ki, Kaki from the Bachelor of Social Science Programme in Social Work, as well as Ms. Ip Ping Yan, Ice and Ms. Leung Ching Ha, Cindy from the Master of Social Science Programme in Social Work for receiving “The Big Fish Award for Non-local Placement Award 2024-25”.
“The Big Fish Award” is established to recognize Mrs. Lam Yu Lai Ling, Teresa’s spirit and dedication to serve for the betterment of our society as well as to honour her significant contribution in the social work field. Teresa graduated in 1973 from CUHK’s Bachelor of Social Science Programme in Social Work. She devoted the next 19 years of her life in Caritas-Hong Kong upon graduation and strengthened their services, particularly in youth and community development. Her selfless generosity, optimistic encouragement, wise forgivingness, resilient capability and loving warmth left a deep impression on many of the people she served, co-workers, friends and family. Having lived a giving, caring and passionate life, she passed away peacefully and gracefully in August 2019.
The Big Fish awardees have demonstrated genuine care for people, a passion in serving and a commitment to promote social wellbeing. They have also showed positive learning attitudes, strong leadership and good team work. As for the awardees of The Big Fish non-local placements, they have demonstrated their knowledge, reflections and experiences they gained abroad, showcasing their personal growth effectively.
