Our teacher and students visited various social welfare institution including Lianxin Community Care Service Centre, Shanrun Elderly Care Development Centre, Kunming City Social Welfare Institute, Zhixing Child Service Centre, Mengduobei Child Development Service Centre, etc. They also participated in an academic exchange with the Department of Social Work at Yunnan University, discussing topics from the institutionalized social worker system to localized social service practice in a diverse cultural setting. In addition, the group visited contemporary rural development practice sites with rich cultural diversity, such as Xishan Damoyu Village, Xiaowan Folk Village, and Mafang Village, gaining an in-depth understanding of their development paths and community vitality..

This exchange provides students with valuable insights into the development of social services in Mainland China, particularly in the areas of child welfare, elderly care, community development, and services for ethnic minority groups. Through academic exchange, agency visits, and cultural visits, students were able to witness the professionalism of local social workers, cross-organizational collaboration, and the challenges associated with policy implementation. The experience not only broadened their understanding of the social welfare system and multicultural service in Mainland China, but also enriched their professional knowledge, with meaningful learning outcomes.
