University and College Service

  • In order to widen and deepen the impact of social innovation on solving social problems, I set up the Yunus Social Business Centre@CUHK (YSBC@CUHK) in July 2017. YSBC@CUHK aims at cultivating commitment, knowledge and skills among the youths to make a difference in the local and the global challenges faced by people in poverty through setting up innovative social business. YSBC has obtained permission from the Nobel Peace Laureate Professor Muhammed Yunus to name the Centre after him and to leverage on his enormous experience, expertise, insights and reputation for the purpose of educating young people in Hong Kong for alleviation of poverty. The Centre received a grant more than HKD 8 million from The Hong Kong Jockey Club to implement the Jockey Club Youth Programme from 2017-2020.

  • I was appointed as a member of the Steering Committee for Promoting Personal Development through Social and Civic Engagement from 2014 to 2023. In the I.CARE Centre for Whole-person Development, the executive organization of the Steering Committee, I have been serving as the leader of the Community Research Team, Co-ordinator of the Student Internship Programme and Social Enterprise Startup Scheme.

  • I served as the Director of the Centre for Quality, HKIAPS from 2014 to 2020. In order to extend interdisciplinary cooperation on applied research to understand quality of life of Hong Kong citizens, I invited staff from Faculty of Social Science and School of Public Health to join hands in publishing the “CUHK Hong Kong Quality of Life Index” annually.

  • I served as Associate Director (2015-2017) and have been serving as the Co-Director (2017-2019) of the Centre for Social Innovation Studies, HKIAPS. The Centre conducts research and training to promote social innovation and development of civil society in Hong Kong and Asia.

  • I started to join the Assembly of Fellows of Shaw College in 2009 and had served as the warden of Kuo Mou Hall from 2011 to 2016. I have also been serving as advisor and judge for various social service programmes of Shaw students.

  • I have actively involved in the management works of the Department of Social Work. I served as the Programme Director of Master of Social Work Programme (2018 - present) and Master of Social Science in Social Work Programme (2008-2012) , Head of Graduate Division (2013-2018), and Member of Executive Committee (2009-2010, 2013-2017).
