The seminar on “Community Services and Family Care for Mental Health in China” was successfully held on September 4, 2024. The department was honored to invite Prof. Wu Ji, associate professor from the Department of Sociology of Harbin Engineering University to share her insights on this topic.

During the seminar, Prof. Wu provided an overview of the medical and social services available for patients with severe mental illnesses in mainland China. She also shared her research findings regarding the living experiences of individuals in mental recovery from rural communities. Prof. Wu highlighted the significant roles played by village doctors, relatives, and neighbors in the rehabilitation of rural patients with severe mental illnesses, providing a new perspective for understanding the concept of 'recovery' in the field of mental health.

Over 20 teachers, students and NGOers participated in this seminar. The attendees gained a deeper understanding of mental health services in mainland China, particularly in rural areas, and engaged in lively discussions on related topics.
