This study aims to explore how older couples collaboratively cope with cognitive decline. We invite older adults with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) and their spousal partners to share their experiences regarding memory loss and mutual support, with the goal of gaining a deeper understanding of their realities and service needs.
We 「MindCouple」team has established successful collaboration with numerous local social service organizations—including JCCPA, SAGE, CFSC, HKSKH, St. James's Settlement, NAAC, and ELCHK—to recruit eligible older couples for this project. Our participants have shown high levels of engagement throughout the longitudinal follow-ups.
As of early 2026, the project has entered its third year of follow-up interviews. The participation rate as of April 2026 has been highly excellent and encouraging. Furthermore, starting in September 2026, we plan to invite 30 couples from our existing cohort to participate in in-depth qualitative interviews in order to have a closer and deeper look of their lively real-life circumstances.
We extend our sincere gratitude to all participating older couples for their active involvement and continued support of university research. As recruitment is still ongoing, we cordially welcome couples aged 60 or above who live together, where one partner experiences memory decline and the other provides daily care and support, to join our study.
