The course introduces the key concepts, evolving understandings, innovative frameworks, and practice models in the field of gender and family welfare policies, from the critical perspectives of feminism, family power dynamics, and social inequality. Major policy fields of marriage, fertility, family care, and work-family balance will be discussed. The course will put emphasis on the development of family welfare policies in Hong Kong and mainland China, in comparison with global trends. Policy and service models and practices related to gender and family welfare will be investigated, with particular attention to how they address and impact on gender and social inequalities.
