MDW Recharge Hub is a pioneering online platform that aims to promote the mental health of migrant domestic workers (MDWs). The project is led by Prof. Cheng Qijin, Emily, Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Work at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), and co-created by a team of CUHK researchers and MDWs. The website is designed to provide MDWs with up-to-date information and knowledge about mental health, as well as easy access to community resources and activities related to their mental well-being.

The website features a range of peer support activities, including a WhatsApp-based emotional support helpline answered by trained MDW volunteers, mental health training programmes, and community activities, designed to help MDWs recharge their mental power and build a sense of community. The website is available in three languages, including English, Tagalog, and Bahasa Indonesian, to be more accessible to MDWs. The project was initially funded by CUHK’s Knowledge Transfer Project Fund (KPF) and has since been further enhanced through funding from the Mental Health Initiative Funding Scheme Phase II.
